This is my 2009 M800z with Hard Krome Double D 2 into 1 Sideburner exhaust on. Ther stock pipes were too quiet for my liking.

Not sure I would want to be the one riding behind you though, I think ear surgery might be required afterwards. Hard Krome Sideburner exhaust M800 249703

Ah now I've seen your bike - very nice. That's not an exhaust - its a chromium drain pipe Hard Krome Sideburner exhaust M800 123721
Love the sound - I thought my nearly gutted pipes were loud until I heared yours - if you see any :cops: I should change up and roll off the trottle - compared to that, the stock pipes were veeeeeeery quiet. Bike looks nice I very nearly bought exactly the same one in that colour scheme last year but went for the C800 in the end. I bet you are dead chuffed with it.

It is a case or telling the bike to be quiet when the police go by. Yes there is a baffle in there, but I don't think it does very much Wink

It is running as stock apart from one of the o2 sensors just hanging in mid air. I had some bungs welded onto the pipes for the sensors but one got welded in the wrong place and I haven't got round to getting it put right yet.

It still runs fine, no FI light, backfires now and again when engine braking from high revs but nothing serious and if anything I think my MPG has gone up slightly.

C'mon Crash stop putting yourself down, your instinct I would say was probably spot on. Hard Krome Sideburner exhaust M800 3498837457

OK lets get down to the bare bones of it, what you have is an unusual situation going on there Spike. The bike comes out of the factory running slightly lean so as to fall in line with EU emission regulations. At this point the can of worms comes in to play due to how you have the bike set up as many believe that the bikes computer will cope with an aftermarket exhaust as long as the air filter is left as stock and some will preach the opposite. An aftermarket exhaust will have a higher air flow (less restricted) which in turn will make the bike slightly leaner if the bikes computer does make those adjustments then alls good but if it cant then not so good. Motorcycles unlike cars have a lot less sensors which is why you can make almost any air filter or exhaust adjustment to a car and the fuel injection will adjust without any issue at all but sadly this is not the case with bikes which is why when most exhaust or higher flowing air filters are added to most bikes they usually have either the bikes computer flashed or an FI processor added.
Then you have one of the two CO2 sensor hanging in mid air, so the one that is installed in to the exhaust is at least trying to do its job by giving the best information that it can to the computer which will be slightly lean if the computer can cope with the extra flow or very lean if it can't. and then you have the sensor that is hanging in mid air getting all the oxygen that it wants & then some, which will make the bike run rich.

Now to be honest I really aint to sure exactly how the sensors feed the information in and how that info is read and the info translated but what you may have potentially is one half of the engine running lean and the other half running rich. Or a computer that is struggling to make the right mix up of air and fuel and basically fighting with itself running from rich to poor on the mix and back again & again & again

Or basically the bike is running up it's own arse and is a bit confused. Although if it seems Very Happy - it probably is.

She does seem happy, and has been running like this for a year now (used every day) and I havent noticed a change in power or anything apart from the NOISE. I do agree that it is odd that it works how it is set up but all I can say is .....it does 😕
