hi there Im new in here a nd hope to add some small news:
As I know that the worst thing for a bike is not breathing and I wanted to mount a K&N filter element, I made this modification:
The C800 (C50) has two 25 mm air intake holes on the backside of the housing - MUCH to little, but these are made to meet the european laws. I took the chrome cover and cut a sqare hole at 10 by 10 cm. im front.
I did buy a small cover, can be seen here LINK cut two bushes for distance and mounted the small new cover upon the original. The small cover was originally ment to sit tight to the original, but the two bushes holds the cover with a space on app. 1 cm. from original. Now the motor can take all the air it needs, a bit more sound but MUCH more power without any adjustments. And by the way - the bike runs more smooth

... and I just demounted my Vance & Hines Cruzers. Was stopped both in Germany and Denmark (more times) for being too loud. Tryed the "extra" DB-killers, which can be put into the original V&H bafflers. Did try to re-pack the muffler with dampning-cloth - bu they still had to use the blue light and a nasty pointing finger. So, boys and girls: Hanging from the ceiling - a pair of Cruzers, who only have 1000 km on the road. I succeeded in mounting the Lambda-sonde in the upper muffler, by drilling out and tig a nut on. Had the bike on tester and runs much better with the sonde mounted - must have big influence on the comp. aboard

sorry for not answering sooner, but just had a fouthnight at the westcoast.
As for your last quest. fule process.
No, in fact its nor nessecary as the C800 has incejtion and the controlbox has 15 steps to be adjusted in - and in each step, u have 3 diff. choises. But it can only be made by the autorized shop. They have a program in a laptop, which they connect to the bike and are able to adjust the "computer" on board.
Well, only 5 mins drive from here I found a guy, who is into these things. He also have a ... whats it called in english .... Roling band on whinch he can test the bike. He tested the standard set-up, did a adjustment, rolled, adjustment, rooled, adjustment ... and here goes! Stock exhaust K&N filter with the modificated housing and slight mod. on comp = 8 more HP measured on the rear wheel!!!
... and I got it printed out. After this nobody follows from green light - smother engine turns a bit more at the top and still 18-20 km/liter.
APP.: The 2. gear is a devil!
So - mods can be made on a standard c800 without powercommand.

Snooser! You are who I need to be talking to!

That after market air filter box cover you bought, is it the same height and width as the stock cover? It looks shallower, not as deep. The stock cover is about 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) deep.

Is it meant to be a direct replacement for the stock cover or just something to bolt on top of the stock cover? I want something to replace the stock, not just cover it.

Thanks.

Sorry Bottlecap, but the "outer" cover is just a shell, original sold for mounting on top of the original cover. Same design can be bought for the cover down on the side of gearbox. As you can see, I lifted it from the original cover with a spacer 3/4 of an inch. The Idea was to modifi without changing the original look. The big issue with the 800 is AIR. They are taken down because of pollusion. Its not only taking power from the engine, it takes years of the poor engines lifetime.

PS: As I see Mr. Intruder has been trying the extra baffler on the V&H Cruisers. Well, I did give up! Both mine are covered by WD40, crapped and are hanging from the seiling. Nor danish or german police are allowing them. The dB are way too high. I made a cruise together with friends for 'bout 2x600 kilometers and nobody wanted to ride behind me, closer than 50 meters. That stinks. PS: My wife is back on the rear seat now. The funny is that I nearly have lost no power, changing back to stock. So big boys .... AIR!
