| I have a 2012 M800, love the bike except forit being "poor over the bumps" Tried different settings on rear shock suspension - but no improvement, have it on the softest. When I ride over large bump or ridge in the road - I really feel it in the small of my back. I am thinking of fitting a different rear suspension unit.
Has anone done this - Any recommendations

| Your back must be extremely bad to say the #1 setting (softest) makes no improvement. I would say that the suspension does not need changing if you already have it on #1, the seat does but others may think differently. | |

No - The Triumph Tiger is very good over the bumps, although I have it set fairly soft

| If your back is that bad I don't think you will get it anywhere near as acceptable to you as your Tiger is cause the shocks will be nowhere near as changeable and spongy as the Tiger is cause its an adventure tourer and it is designed to do a very different job | |

| I'd be thinking it's the seating position on the M800, your sat right on your tail bone, so any shock just goes up the back instead of taking a bit with your legs or under the body, like on a more upright bike, an aftermarket shock would be in the region of £300+ for a decent one (if one is readily available?) I'd be looking into having the seat foam replaced with something a little softer or even a cut out where the tail bone rests to cure the problem. | |

| Or do what Dave (Mr Intruder) did a few years ago and take the seat cover off and add some extra foam to the whole of the top of the stock seat before restapling the cover back on | |

| Rob the problem may be the way the seat is made,if you look at the rear fastening mount on your seat you will find it sticks up into your tail bone, what I done was took the seat cover off, then took the fastener off and made it flush,it may be worth while looking into to it to see if a little mod might work,if it is the riding position,or like me get a gel pad and fit as well.Just an idea. | |

| Thanks Alfie, That sounds very logical I will have a look under the seat, I had not considered a gel pad.
What tyre pressures do you use ?
