| Alright gentlemen, I will start on the right side. Remove the foot peg assembly. Keep the bolts! Cut the brake cable bracket off the assembly and set it aside later to use as a template. To move the mount forward I used 1 1/2" x 1/4" x 11 1/2" long piece of flat stock, about $12 for 3 foot. I cut 2 pieces because 1 flexed a little to much for my liking. I welded mine together, but just bolting thm together would probally be alright. To drill the holes, line up the edge of the flat stock up to the foot peg assembly and mark. for the front of the bracket I lined up the bracket the same way only raised the very front hole up 1/2". This was needed to level my floor boards. To make the brake cable bracket I used a piece of 2" x 1/8" x 5 1/2" peice of flat stock, about $7 for 4 foot. Use the piece you cut off as a template, drill and cut as needed. Bend in a 90. I mounted mine behind the main flat stock.Bolt on flat stock using stock bolts. When I intalled the peg assembly I used two spacers, one was 1/2" long the other was 1" long for a 3/8" bolt. I used black pipe, $2 for a 6" peice. The long one went up front. Mine had to be two different lenghts to square up my floor board, your's might be equal. To connect the brake, I used a piece of 1" x 1/8 x 8 1/2" peice of flat stock. Drill and bend as needed. Now for the left side. Remove the peg assembly. Unscrew the shifter rod and set aside. Remove the shifter lever and set aside. Cut off the peg for the shifter lever as seen in picture.Turn mount ended for end. Measure back 1 1/2" back from the center of the peg mount on the new bottom of the mount 1/2" up. Drill 3/8" hole. Drill out shifter lever hole to 1/2". Buy a shoulder bolt 1" long shoulder, 1/2" diameter, and a 3/8" lock nut, $5 at Ace. Bolt together. I used two 1 1/2" spacers to move the mount out. They came from the pipe used on the other side. Use two new bolts to bolt to frame, I am sorry I forgot there size but they came from Ace also. Screw the shifter rod in one side and measure the lenght you need to lenghten it. I used 1/4 round stock from Ace $3. I cut my shifter rod in half so I wouldn't have to rethread. Weld together and clean up the weld. I painted a quick coat of flat black for now and I will repaint over the winter. This mod moves the pegs forward 8", and I really love the extra leg room. If I forgot anything please feel free to post up and I will try to help out anyway I can. I'm sorry all measurements are in US, but I'm for the US. | |
