| Can anyone help advise please.... I noticed a fast drip the other day to the underside of my bike having just come back from a short ride. On closer inspection, it appears to be the rear shocker. The leak has now stopped, so I'm assuming I now have no oil in the shocker. So, what are my options now? Is it a full new shocker required, or can they be re-sealed? Could I replace it myself? Having had a quick look on the net they seem to be very expensive. I have been carrying some heavy loads without adjusting the shocker to suit, so I have probably only got myself to blame! Any help appreciated | |

| Sorry - but it sounds like your shocker is bolloxed. Likelihood is you were to ride it that you will get a pogo-ing effect from the back end ... in extreme situations (especially bumpy corners) this lead to a loss of traction & instability in the handling. If you have lost all the oil (& thus the damping effect) you should NOT ride the bike. I would doubt the original units are re-buildable - but I am not au-fait with the M800, but suspect you might have a single shocker centrally mounted in a fancy rising rate linkage - all tucked out of view. This should be a job you can do yourself if you have a decent stand to support the bike on whilst you do the work. You will likely have to take the weight off the rear wheel to dismantle everything - but others with actual knowledge of the M800 will be able to advise better. I would suggest that if the original cannot be rebuilt, then you are better look at a non- Suzuki replacement part that can be rebuilt. I would probably be worth approaching Hagon to see what they offer (Or if they could rebuild your unit). Other forum members may be able to suggest other options - but I personally would look to put something on that is re-buildable. The only other option is try to source a second hand one from say a written off bike - so a straightforward swap over. At least then you have the old one on the bench to consider for a future re-build replacement. Pity the bike is out of warranty - but if you have had the bike from new & only done modest mileage you could approach the dealer you purchased the bike from to see if they might offer a discounted repair price (or shocker price) Hope that might help. | Thanks for that Yam, I have just emailed Hagon to get the ball rolling (as I had never heard of them before). I'll see what reply I get off them and take it from there. | |

| Hello Paul, I`ve used brook suspension several times for rebuilds off shocks, at least half the cost of buying new,,,, The service includes the following...
• Disassembly of shock absorber. • Inspection of all parts for wear or damage. • Polish piston rod. • Strip piston assemblies, clean and flatten pistons. • Replace oil seals, inspect dust seals and bushes and replace if necessary. • Rebuild shock absorber with high quality oil. • Charge with nitrogen.
service is usually fairly quick, there are the odd unit they cannot re-build but its quite rare, give them a call and talk top them, I find them helpful and knowledgeable. they also sell just about anything you may need for suspensions, recently I replaced the Fork Stanchion on a Kawasaki VN 1500, good kit and no fitment issues.

Hope this is of some help mate. | |
