Hello , this forum looks great. I have a 1997 VZ800 which I just torn down the motor to replace crank and rod bearings because the last owner ran it with low to no oil.  I have a question about camshaft timing.  the front#2 cylinder and the back #1 cylinder have and arrow on the cam shaft.  This is to be pointed towards the front of the engine when the generator rotor aligns up with T.D.C. The book shows TDC of No.1 cylinder is the RIF I T marking aligned with the mark on the generator cover.  Do I use the FIF I T marking for the front #2 cylinder?  Or do I use the RIF I T marking for both cylinders?  They use both of these marking per the book when adjusting the valves but they only mention the RIF I T when setting the camshaft timing.  Can someone help me out??

OK I think I just use the RlF l T marking then make sure each front and back cam has the arrow point forward parallel with the top or the head.  Just would like to make sure before I put this back in the frame.  Any confirmations???

In the VL800 manual it says RIT and lines on cams parallel to the heads, I'm not sure for the pre 2005 VZ's though? sorry.
