When I got the bike (2010) it was sooo quiet. Did a lot of reading and after 2000 miles took the plunge and drilled 8-12mm holes in back exhaust plate and punched a 3/4" hole down the middle through the 2 plates. Can see the cat but stopped there obviously. Really liked the result. (Have a listen below) - one guy asked me what pipes I had on it!. Power has smoothed out a little - not so snatchy but seems every bit as punchy and gets to 70 pretty quick. I can hear it now and pedestrians and motorists can hear me coming hopefully! Any problems with the engine you guys can think of or will the FI adjust itself? I know aftermarkets probably need remapping but from what I have read elsewhere, smaller mods should be ok. When I asked my dealer about the mod (I said a friend had done it!) he said"If there were meant to be holes - they'd be there." so that didn't help me much! I've read a lot of comments by people with the mod and no problems reported. Any feedback on this one?

Have a listen

Sounds good Bluesman, a nice easy mod to do that gives a nice rumble Exhaust mod C800 696333
Unlike cars that have loads of sensors and can make quite major changes to the mix, most bikes dont but mods such as the one you did are well within their re-adjustment capbilities.
And as for the dopey dealer saying if they were meant to be there they would be already, what an Exhaust mod C800 335795
The bikes are set up for busy body eurocrats, which is why they are so quite and tame & we have to spend so much Fekin cash to get them to run right Exhaust mod C800 410694

I completely de-baffled mine, which is presumably just a bit deeper in sound and a bit loader without being obnoxious. I usually leave my house about 5am so in the summer months when I'm riding the bike to work I don't want to p*ss off all the lucky sods that are still asleep and I don't feel the de-baffled pipe is to load as long as I don't give it to much throttle until I get around the corner. I will try to put a video on at the weekend so you can here them.

Ah yes - that was one I did earlier!! Actually I'd only done a small hole in one baffle - now I've gone up to the full size through both baffles. As for the drilled holes, the secret is to do smaller core holes fist before going in with the big bit. Daft thing is, the old video sounds louder than the latest one but in actual fact the bike is now louder - when you record in the garage everything echoes. Looking forward to hearing your debaffled pipe too but I bet when your new pipes come along - that will blow us all away! Anyway Exhaust mod C800 433968 for the reassurance on the mod as regards self adjustment. If anyone wants to do Bluesman's Mod - I have got photos of all the steps. I have also had some plates made that can fit over the holes to unmod it should it ever be necessary (for selling, mot, nosey dealer etc.) I may well go on to do the The Intruder's debaffle one day and then get aftermarkets Exhaust mod C800 474255 but I'm ok at the moment...............for now!!!!

Ah well then bluesman, if you've done photo's from A through to Z on the mod then we will be expecting a a write up in the Aftermarkets & Modifications section Wink Cheers
Sadly for me everytime I do a mod its just a slippery slope towards the next one Exhaust mod C800 880307
