| Scrape off as much off as you can with a blunt instrument and then Mr Muscle oven cleaner. Other tips may follow | |

| Don't know what it's called (scourer or something) You can get it in £1 shops and nearly every where now. Tiny strips of razor edged plastic. Totally non-scratch. Amazing stuff - every biker should have. My HH pipes got coated with melted rubber - this stuff removed in seconds - works every time and will not mark pipes. I have tried everything else but this stuff is ace. Try it - you won't be disappointed! For best results, wait until pipes are cold. You also need a heat shield - by the sound of it - see my post yesterday. | |

| As above but try ,petrol, nail varnish remover, WD40, none abrasive chemicals that will melt rubber, good luck | |

| Thanks again for everyone's helpful suggestions The solution for me was as follows (at the umpteenth attempt) Warm up engine with a few minutes tick-over (this has the added benefit of allowing neighbours to enjoy the HH sound reverberating from my shed in the middle of their Sunday afternoon. I lke to put others before myself). The pipe then warm/hot, a quick spray of WD40 and a brisk rubbing with the edge of a 2p coin. I had read somewhere that copper being softer than chrome, it would not cause damage. This seems to be true, except perhaps for a hair-line scratch or two. Finish off with a rub of Auto Glym chrome polish. Hoping that this note will be of help to others. Now all have to do is save up for a new pair of trousers ! | |
