Hi folks, I've got myself a M800 Intruder and I am currently fabricating some slip-on straight-through pipes.  Now the fabrication isn't an issue, and I've access to a full workshop.  However, when it comes to fitment I was going to drill and tap to fit the lambda sensors - will this be enough to run the bike on, or will I have to play about with the ECU?

Cheers in advance.

Edit: It's an '09 plate

Fitting the original or replacement lambda sensor in the newly fabricated exhaust will be fine, without any ECU issues. Either do it the way you have planned or drill a hole and weld a lambda boss on to the newly fabricated pipe and screw the lambda sensor in to it. Failing that what you can do as is often done when fitting aftermarket pipes that do not have lambda bosses in place is simply take the side cover off the right side and cut wire #23 at the ECU & disconnect the lambda sensor from the fitting wire and unplug the wire.

Thanks for the help, I'm just going to manufacture a a threaded boss (i believe it's a M12 x 1.5 thread) and fit the sensors back to it.  Cheers folks, once ive got it all done ill post a video.

Second question, I quickly measured the downpipe outside diameter - I got 28.4mm, is this correct?

M12x 1.25 pitch for the sensors and why go 28mm down pipe? very restrictive compared to aftermarket zorst.

I'm using the standard downpipes, got hold of some 64mm (18swg wall thickness) stainless pipe, so im making a a link pipe on the lathe - when i get enough money i'll just buy some nice aftermarket stuff

I'm lucky, I'm a metal-basher in the RAF, so I've got hold of some scrap 76mm stainless bar, and I've put together a programme for the CNC lathe to make the link piece(s)... and it's also a damned good job I'm pretty nifty on the old TIG plant too haha
