Help with a fork bag Empty
PostSubject: Help with a fork bag   Help with a fork bag Icon_minitimeSat Jun 14, 2014 4:40 pm

With our planned trip to spain next month I figured with my missus' luggage requirements it was a case of every little helps! So bought a leather tool roll/fork bag for my m800. Figured even if I just carry high vis, fewer tools etc in it, that frees up space in the panniers etc.

The prob I have is that since I have a screen fitted, it can't go above the headlamp, but if I mount it below the headlamp, it won't be sitting on the front mudguard, but it's bloody close.... Maybe an inch clearance.... Just not sure how much travel there is in the forks ... Eg if you hit a pothole .

Should have thought about this before I hit the buy it now button!

Pack then repack & remember that if you take light kit it can be washed at night & be dry by day time.
When we went to France the other week we found we'd taken too much kit & next time out will be taking less as  some of it did'nt get used!
Unfortunately the weaker sex have to take absolutely everything they have so why don't you pack for her as I'm sure you'll soon find out that she's taking too much stuff.
A mate of mine who takes his wife with him found out that he only had the top box left for his kit & went berserk telling her that she was taking too much! They seem to think it's a car you're taking not a bike!!!
After all Spain is a HOT country normally so why take heavyweight kit etc...?
Don't fit the tool roll either as it will wear the paint away from the guard in no time! Look round & see if it will fit somewhere else & why not wear the hi-viz not put it away?

Make Mrs bigmal carry a rucksack with all her gear in it, She'll soon be thinking she doesn't need much stuff  Help with a fork bag 852880 Strap the tool roll to the top of your trunk bag presuming you've got one? I've got a magnetic tank bag you can borrow if you want? I've also got some bungee straps with plastic ends if you want to use those?

Thanks sim.... Kind offer... I've got a tank bag myself, but it did mark the paint a little, so I'm not a big fan. I suppose I was hoping for the impossible... Someone to say " what you do with the fork bag is xyz..."

So I may try and return it, and look for alternative ideas. Thanks anyway  Help with a fork bag 3005623951

With a tank bag just put a thin soft cloth under it to stop it scratching with bits

The tank bag I have is really for my Velocette but is ideal for the bike as it's a maximum size of 12" tall with 9" sides(2) & a back width of 6" & it sits comfortably at the back & is ideal for all our documents, wallet, spare gloves etc etc...
Mine sits on a large protion of the tank bib but I use a yellow duster or a microfibre cloth to stop it marking the tank as I've always done if I use any size tank bag.
