| When I first bought the VX she was not running very well so one of the things I changed were the Spark Plug Caps, I bought a pair of NGK ones (XD05F NGK Spark Plug Cap [8072] Black 102° Elbow) but they are hardly long enough, but I fitted them anyway. Every time I wash the bike she misfires and runs rough until warmed through. So I thought I would buy a new set of Plug Caps and 2m of HT Lead, now the Suzuki Caps are over £30 for the pair, sod that, I am being a tight sod at the moment as I have just bought a new pair of boots for me and a new pair of boots for the VX, so has any one bought a different make of cap that are longer than the NGK ones but do not cost a fortune. I also presume the standard copper core HT lead is ok or is the carbon core one better? | |

| Hi Andrew, I am very surprised you have a misfire problem with NGK plug caps, these are normally the best you can buy, if the bike came as standard with copper core cables keep them as copper conducts a spark voltage better than carbon core, but check and see if the standard ones are carbon core as there is a chance of damaging your coils or ECU if someone has changed them to copper cables, when fitting new caps and cables it is a good idea to put a good wadge of vasaline inside the cap where it goes onto the plug and where the cable screws into the cap plus some where it goes into the coil this will stop any water getting in, also buy a good quality cable as a lot of the cheaper ones break down under the high voltage of modern ignition systems, hope these tips help, regards Doc Cox, | |
