| Hi all,
I have a burnt out connector on the starter solenoid which is preventing me from riding - it's very frustrating.
Has anybody had this problem and (more importantly) do you know where I can purchase a new one?
It's a 4-way square connector.
Many thanks | |

| Yes, that's the solenoid. It's the connector (that's not shown) that I need to replace. The bike has broken down on me too many times now. I have already replaced the solenoid but the connector is proving difficult to locate. Any ideas where I can buy one? Many thanks | |

| I've no idea sorry? It looks to be part of the wiring Harness, eBay for someone breaking a vz is probably your best bet or a motorcycle breakers. | |

| Could not standard connectors be used with adequate heat shrink tubing or electrical tape etc??? | |

You could remove the plastic plug part (providing the stock metal connectors are ok cleaned up?) fit them loose then pack the socket with polymorph to insulate them and create a new connector? just an idea instead of searching for a connector or wiring loom. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100g-Hot-Melt-Plastic-Pellets-Make-Components-Repairs-Tools-Moulds-Prototyping-/170762532207?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27c23d756f ps. I have been drinking so this could be complete nonsense | |

| Hello GJC, I notice you have a Suzuki vz800 1977,, they didn't make the vz then so I assume it is a typo mate and you mean 1997 model vz800. The wiring block on 1997 to 1998 vz should have 3 wire and the 1998 to 2004 vz should have 4 wires to the block,,, 1 or 2 small red wires, a yellow wire with a black tracer,,,,a black wire with white tracer,, 1997 to 1998 vz800 marauders in particular there is a known problem with this block melting/overheating the red wires and is connected to a problem with the charging system/wiring,,, so if you check the melted block mate in particular the red wires,, you may want to follow them back into the harness a little way and see what you find,, if this turns out to be the problem you will need to rectify the fault. Hope this is of some help mate. | |
