| well guys and gals as this is my first road bike i thought i would have a crack at some jobs that i need to do on my marauder ..
first thing was to wire up the 2 small spot lights that were on me bike when i bought it . ( some numpty had not put a relay on ) so new 25w bulbs new relay and presto job done ..
the next job is to sort out my head light , it is nothing short of dangerous to ride with at night ..
it seems that full beam does nothing other than dim the light . dip beam is bright prob as it should be , but full beam is near nothing there , i have tried tweeking the light angle up and down ,seems to make no difference , the only way i can ride after dark is if i hold the flash /pass button , this is very bright again prob as full beam should be .
is there anything i need to look at before i give in and buy a bandit headlight and make it fit ..
thanks for any help in advance

Agreed Andrew! Take it apart & clean the terminals etc & start from there also you may want to take the handlebar switch off & give it some spray with WD40 or similar as it may also be a bad contact in the switch itself!

| Mine was the same after I refitted the headlight - took it out, cleaned the contacts & made sure the connector was pushed fully home | |

| So it's working if you use the pass button - when you say it's very dim on the main beam switch, do you mean it's actually coming on, but not very bright ? From what you're saying, it sounds like it's going to be a switch issue - if it's coming on fine on the pass button, I'd guess that the contact is at fault. In the first instance, I'd strip the switch down (make sure you take plenty of photos - believe me, you'll never remember where it all goes), see if the wiring looks OK & make sure the contacts are clean.
Failing that, you're probably going to be trawling ebay for a replacement switch, I'm afraid

| Spot-on mate - just finished three of the busiest late shifts I've done in ages.
Re Johnny's issue - I'm guessing there's going be crap in the switch meaning it won't be making a good contact

| Yeh that's what I thought Dave as if it's ok on the pass switch then it must be a bar switch problem. Welcome back to normality mate ha ha ha........ | |
