Suzuki Bandit n600 REbuild Progress.

So, as you all may know, me and JohnBoss (mainly JohnBoss) have been working on rebuilding and "prettying up" the 1996 Bandit 600. Much work has been done, but the most recent thing is painting the engine. Many hours have been put into sanding down, degreasing, and prepping the engine for a good coat of VHT and lacquer. Pics of how it currently stands included.

Looking good Rick!   I see the 6'p's are being adhered to at every stage   Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance!    You might want a bit of Cuprinol Wood Preserver on that Timber though? It's taking that long! 

Or as the saying goes: time taken now is well spent, time taken to do it all again later is wasted.

A perfectionist me thinks , tell your dad to pull his finger out, dont he know you young-uns are impatient I'm looking forward to seeing the end product

Updates pictures are here! Fins have been "de-painted", along with some of the lettering on the cases. No lacquer yet. The starter motor, alternator, and cam chain tensioner have been painted silver, just to add a bit of colour to the black lump. 

Next step(s) are to buy the last bits needed, those being bars, mirrors, indicators, tail tidy, and a screen; and to get the carbs stripped, cleaned, and balanced. Pictures below :)

I know nothing of such matters, but having sanded back the fins, will you need to apply a Matt clear VHT lacquer over everything to stop them going dull? (I'm assuming You wouldn't want to paint each one individually!)

It's   guys! Can't beat a bit of Hammerite/Smoothrite to sort things out.
It's about time you gave your 'old man' a kick up the arse Ritch...... must have been like trying to rouse a 4 stroke engine with only a 'kick start' on a frosty morning!

Got 3 cans of XHT lacquer - the whole engine's getting a good coating of this stuff.  It'll put a bit of a shine to the black and protect the polished edges of the fins - also hoping it'll give the whole engine some protection against the elements.

Sniffing all that paint will have you high as a kite! 

JB! excellent job but you obviously have way too much time on your hands, you should save these jobs next year when you are retired off

Got a directive from our bosses - 'try to work from home 2 days a week' - I'm liking this semi retirement - pays full for part time work!
