Airfilter cover

Open the filter cover en changed it with an aluminium mesh ring. When I drove it with just the 9cm opening the bike seems to have more power. Now the K&N filter is almost covered with the “inside ring” the bike will not get much extra air. On the volusiaowners forum they warned me for riding the bike to lean.

The inner ring comes to the chrome plate of the K&N filter so a very little amount of air flows to the filter itself. I can close the air intake on the back of the filterbox a bit to compensate that if necessary. Cold air is better then the warm air that comes in from the backside when the engine is hot. In this setting I do not feel any changes in performance. 
If the bike should run to lean you should hear backfire and a loss in performance; when I drove it with the whole just complete open I felt the opposit. It was more reponsive to the gas and ran fantastic...... I have open Vance&Hines also. So....was my bike to rich?

Do a plug check, that will tell you the situation.

That electrode looks quite thin.    The plugs are NGK DPR7EA-9

Ah ... got it ... they are expensive I believe.    I did originally think .. wtf?
