Have just finished some maintenance this weekend; have managed to get the back wheel off from my VZ800 (M800) using only the basic bike lift ( such as Mr I has just made) LINK.
I had to remove the number plate (2 bolts) and also let the tyre down, and this just gives you enough space to wiggle the wheel out from under the rear mudguard. This has allowed me to lubricate the drive shaft as discussed in this section of this forum.
Wiggle the wheel back in, raise it with a suitable bit of wood and slide it back onto the splines of the drive shaft; refit everything, refit number plate and inflate tyre. Job done. No need for a hydraulic bike lift now!

Those wooden lifts really are worth there weight in gold it would seem & so easy to use.

Good to here you had no problem lubricating the drive shaft it gives piece of mind when you here of the odd issue that has been reported even tho they are rare. wood be good if a member did a write up with pics at some point to show how its done. Grob did you find it easy or was there any dificulty with it at all?

Not at all. Undid the 3 chrome capped nuts that attach the drive shaft hub to the drive shaft cover and it literally falls out. Lube up the splines and slip it back in (oo-err! sounds a bit rude). Then do up the nuts again ... I used a bit of Loctite as well.

Really it's easy-peasy.
