Fitted a universal Highway hawk screen a couple of days ago. Due to vibration and wind blast it kept coming loose, has anyone had same with there screen.

Problem is i tightened it up too much to stop it coming loose and the mounting snapped!!!! Chasing up a new mount!

Here is your one
I think you will probably not get the stability you are after with that screen. Only two bars to hold the screen and both long which in turn will give more flex or vibration

Here is my one
The one I have is not a lot dearer than yours but it has 4 short connecting points to the bike. Two on the bars and two under the triple tree.

If it doesn't work out as you are hoping when the part is replaced, then demand your money back as the item should be, fit for purpose under the Sale of goods act of 1979

Hi Stone, sorry for the delayed reply, just got back from holiday ......I fitted a Highway Hawk "California" screen when I first got my bike. Because of the way the screen mounted, with the two linking bars fastened to handlebar clamps I couldn't tighten the clamps up enough to stop them turning on the bars at anything above about 60mph. It was a really strange sensation to see the top of the screen moving towards you slowly when you're on the move. I tried eveything until eventually I sprung the threads on the clamp bolts and gave it up as a bad job. I've had two screens since, a short 16" one which had a 4 point fixing as per Mr Intruder's but just funelled windblast straight on to my visor (sometimes giving me double vision) and my latest screen which has fork mounting brackets. The fork mounts mean my latest screen is adjustable on rake angle which is useful but by far the best mounting configuration is the 4 point fixing. I'm about to start looking to see if I can modify my current screen to use the 4 point mounts so we'll see how that goes.

Cheers .... Mick

Locktight did the job. Considering is only has two fixing bars, it is surprizingly sturdy

I fitted an Airblade custom screen to my 2011 M800 - the one in Zen's M800 cheap screen post. I was a bit worried that it might loosen and spin round since it only has two clamps for the bars. I used some self amalgamating tape on the bars and put the clamps on top. I only put a small layer of tape as the clamps were pretty tight anyway. It seems to have worked ok as it's not budged after a couple if hundred very windy miles up here.
