| I have been considering making some hanldle bar muffs for my bike, I have always resisted having these but I think old age is making me soft. I have my Home made hand wind deflectors that really do help a lot but my fingers are still very very cold in these extremely cold mornings. I don't want heated gloves or anything else like that so muffs seem like a good idea. I will be designing the muffs so that they fit over my bars with the deflectors still in place, as this would help them keep there shape. I have been looking at all sorts of designs on Ebay but I am far to tight to buy anything like this, as I know that a couple of hours in the workshop could produce something that will do the job. My plan is to make them out of two layers of leatherette which is waterproof. they will be stitched where required and Velcro used elsewhere. I was wondering if there is anything I should take into consideration before I start making them, hopefully I am not over simplifying this. Any input would be very welcomed bfore I undertake this task, hopefully this weekend. | |

| Do you wear waterproof over mittens ? I've always found a couple of pairs of them over my gloves in winter really takes the wind away, Cheap as chips too.As for the muffs a thin layer of foam or that white stuffing material between the leatherette will greatly reduce the wind and give them more thermal value. | |

My son rode up from Bangor on Sunday afternoon, 115 mile trip and said his hands weren't cold because he had them on over his gloves, two pairs just stops any wind getting through to your gloves, He went back at 9.30 pm and said they were fine when he got back too, and it was well past freezing then, Oh to be young again lol he only came up for a change of scenery he said | |

| I really would like to see you make some muffs dave but I reckon the over gloves would be worth trying out first after Simbo's recomendation. That would save you a lot of work and wasted hours if they would do the trick instead | |

| When will you ever learn Crash? For guys like me the enjoyment is in the planning out and making something. . . . . . . I may buy some overgloves all the same though. | |

| Decided not to make them in the end as I managed to get some for a very good price, so this project has been abandoned. | |
