| So you've chopped your VZ right down to a little Bonsai'd shadow of it's former self , then get the bright idea to set off on a 4774km circuit of the country , with wife as wingman on her S50 ... so .... where to put your very. VERY minimal kit ? Ah ! Take a 105mm sewer pipe , make rocket laucher type thing , weld a plate with captive nuts to the frame ... and ... well .... with a puncture kit on top of the battery , tools in the tool tube , 500 ml brandy in the Tissue Box , a tiny tank bag , and rocket launcher , and tie some kit under the overhang of the bars .... there we go then .... And ask the wife nice to put a spare T-shirt in her bag ... Ready to roll. The FAT part of South Africa coast to coast is 29 deg South more or less , from Port Nolloth in the West to Mtunzini in the East , and is a little over 1000 miles. No-one really thinks about touring left-right like this , as our minds are tuned to Cape Town / Johannesburg which is more up-down. But this 29th Parallel is a hidden gem of open roads and varied terrain. Someones gotta do it. Even if you have to put your toothbrush in your back pocket 'cos you chopped the cr@p outta yer bike ! | |
