| As some of you are aware, Justins having his engine covers powder coated. I was looking at mine yesterday, & the chrome on a couple of the casings looking a mite sorry for itself - the chrome's not the best, it's slightly pitted & TBH, I'm not a big chrome fan. I'm thinking of having them powder coated matt black to match the rest of the stuff I had done, but I'm not sure whether it'd be too much black & whether having some chrome around the lower part works Any thoughts ?? | I think it would look spot on. But you might also have to lose the chrome rad cover, and bright forks to really go for it,! | |

| Just have a look at any Pre 2010 M50. They all came out with black engine casings (admittedly more of a gloss than a matt). I much prefer the look. | |

| So I popped my covers down to the powder-coaters the other day. Initially I was going to go with matt-black (I know Justin, I know) - however, John, the owner tells me he has some matt-black that they're using for Harley exhausts. Didn't think you could powder coat exhausts, but this is extra high temperature stuff. Apparently, it has a textured, slightly rough finish - I'm guessing it's a bit like the finish on your engine Sim. They're going to do me a sample to see if I want to go for that instead.
Slightly annoyingly, I'd dropped the plastic cover off with my cousin the evening before - rang him to put it on hold - he'd already done it that morning !!! Bugger - but he reckons he can do a similar finish with paint so they match up.

Yeah Dave it's slightly textured, 'wrinkle black' I think they call it, quite a nice finish but I should imagine it will go grubby over time if not kept on top of.

| That was my concern as well Sim - I reckon a bit of Hotspot Stove & Grate polish should bring it back | |
