Hi,

Is it possible to buy the "other end" of this plug anywhere? I have a new bike and would rather not cut or splice in.
Is it  a standard connector?

Thanks

Try your local automotive wiring sales place or use 2 female single plugs.

Cheers bud.
Is there an idiots wiring diagram anywhere for wiring these things up with a handlebar switch? Is it easier to ignore aux connector and go direct to battery?

Many thanks

The auxillary connector is only live when the ignition is switched on. As for a wiring diagram try downloading the owners manual which can be found in the forum items listings or look in electrical items for a detailed write up on doing the work ok?

Thanks for reply, I am not looking for a general wiring diagram, just a diagram to wire up after market spotlights. I have done a search and can find plenty of information on the hardware side but nothing on wiring them up.
From what I can make out I can use the aux connector in the headlight shell as a relay trigger and I think I will still need to run a supply from the battery also, just don't want to get it wrong.

Cheers.

If you look through the electrical threads I'm sure you will find some help there or try to contact V-Twin or Sim as they are more up in these things than myself.

If i remember correctly the aux. supply is from a 10 Amps fuse.
A spade connector of the correct size will push into it.
Fit a correctly sized inline fuse if the 10 Amps is too much for you.

From what I have read on this forum the aux connector is not man enough to power 2 x 55w spotlights. I was going to fit a relay powered directly from the battery and use the aux connector as the relay trigger. I am no auto electrician though so was looking for guidance as to the correct wiring procedure.

Cheers

If my maths is correct...2 lamps at 55 w = 110 watts

10 Amps at 12 volts = 120 watts

110 watts will draw approx.  9.2 Amps

Yes, but the aux circuit has the bikes lights on it as well?

No choice then, you will need another feed.

As you say ...if you want a feed that goes on and off with the ignition then you need a relay and use the aux. supply ( or some other circuit that comes on with the ignition  ) to operate the relay via a switch.

If you wanted something simpler you could just take a fused feed from the battery to a switch (that can take 10 Amps ) but if you leave them on you will have a flat battery.

Some people fit a 40A relay feeding a fuse bank to give them easy connections for other bits of kit they want to connect up ( heated grips etc. )

Love the idea of the second fuse bank, reckon I will go for that subject to having room to fit it.
Nice idea yorky - Cheers!

Have you seen this? I always used to use a 5 way fuse panel but came accross this while researching dual dash cams for bikes. I may use this on the new bike.

Well, I tried to post a link but I'm not allowed yet. Google   INNOVV POWER SUPPLY HUB and have a look.
