| Hi guys, I have just finished doing up all of my bike (I will put some pics up shortly) but I was just wondering something. I have some Vance & Hines Twin Slash Staggered pipes on it and wow are they loud. But I am just wondering are they too loud? I don't want to get pulled over or fail any MOTs. If I need to get bafflers (which I have looked at some quiet bafflers) where is a good place to get them as I can only find singles at about £70 each but if I don't need them may as well save some money :) | |

| I don't mind loud pipes but some are just to loud. I don't think they can fail an MOT (I think they can only give you an advisory unless it says they are only for track us ????) but the Police could get upset Have you looked at fitting some 'db killers'. Edit: Have a read of this as its the MOT Guidelines for motorcycles https://www.mot-testing.service.gov.uk/documents/manuals/m1s07000101.htm | |

If the noise isn't bothering you personally, then save yourself some cash and don't bother with the baffles. I have slashcuts on mine too and have been pulled over by Powys plods twice on separate issues and no mention was made of exhaust noise. It's also had two MOT's without even an advisory about them. I'd like to emphasise this by saying that Powys plods are notorious c*nts when it comes to bikers. They have a few purges a year when they will pull bikes over just to book you for any type of infringement to fullfill their quota. One of the times I mentioned earlier that I was pulled over was for having a dark tint visor, my point being that the exhaust is a bit more noticable than that and if they had been concerned about it they would have done me for it.

| I think it depends entirely on the tester and the plod. Para 2 of the guidelines v-twin linked to is interesting. They should fail you if "the noise emitted is clearly in excess of that which would be produced by a similar machine fitted with a standard silencer in average condition."
I bet any bike tester who gave you a pass or an advisory would defend his position by saying that the bike was unusually rare and he could only guess at what noise a standard bike would produce, as he'd never heard one.
The bloke who did my last MOT said much the same, and with regard to small license plates, he said if it is the correct font and spacing, as long as he can read it at 20 paces it complies, and he would argue that with the man from VOSA.

| I think I might be just more for my ears and so I am not quite so much of a d**k to everyone else. I have seen some videos and it looks like they still keep the roar but not quite so aggressive. But does anyone know will these ones work on what I have? I have contacted the seller but waiting to hear back but if anyone else knows that will be great

| V&H Part # 21899 is the Quiet Baffle for these pipes:
products.vanceandhines.com/store/suzuki/48293/ (sorry, can't post links yet)
So it looks like you've got the right ones. Click on the Instructions button and it lists the baffles at the bottom of the page.

| I looked at that page about 10 minutes ago and still have those instructions, didn't notice the part that clearly states the bafflers (I am an idiot) but thanks for the help :) | |

| Hi! I have the same pipes. Fitted the V&H quiet baffles and my opinion is that it's just better! The sound is not really more quiet but the tone is deeper and softer. Not that metallic. And the backpressure that the quiet baffles adds is just helping the low end torque isn't it? | |

I had V&H Slash cuts on my H-D and removed the baffles and wrapped them with wadding (this stuff) which gave a similar outcome ie, deeper less harsh tone, Just done the same thing with the latest pipes I've fitted with a similar outcome. Worth a try for a tenner
