| I have a 90's model GSX1100G and am considering converting it to electric drive. Since it's a shaft drive, an issue I have is the low (number) final drive at 2.66. I want to see if there is a much higher numerical drive I can use with rear wheel or otherwise adapt. The parts listings I've found say many are 34 ring / 11 pinion teeth for 3.09:1 (my G is 32/12 for 2.66), but ideally I'd like to be around 4:1.
Since I'm new, I can't reply to posts, but I saw this one regarding final drives from 2021 and want to follow up on this:
to clarify something from above if you ask Suzuki what the final drive ratio is for the vs 800 and vs 1400 they will tell you its 3.09 :1 and 2.66:1 respectively ( i think, i haven't got that info at hand at the moment) but i know from the bench test that the vs800 is a shade over 4:1 when only involving the shaft to wheel ratio. | |

| So as near as I can tell, the 4:1 claim is incorrect. The secondary drive on that bike is 1.133, which makes the actual 3.09 final drive around 3.50 (which Suzuki still claims for the 2023 C50). At this point, I'm still looking for a higher numerical ratio drive I can adapt for my needs. One other possibility is to have a custom pinion made for my drive. 8 vs 12 teeth would give me exactly 4:1 with my 32 tooth ring gear. | |

| I found a VX800 final drive for sale on eBay and messaged the seller asking them to check the ratio. He said for every 3 turns of the driveshaft the hub made 1 turn, so it's about a 3:1 ratio. I found the Yamaha FJR1300 has a 3.67:1 ratio so that may be my best bet if I can adapt the rear wheel from one. | |
