| I am changing the bars on my ride as I fell I am leaning slightly forward with the stock one's.
Anybody have any thoughts on bars that allow you to have a more 'upright' position when riding?
I am looking at the bars on this site - and in particular the following bars
http://www.custom-fasteners.co.uk/acatalog/Chrome_Handlebars.html
55-2381 XLX Style Handlebars (1" diameter, no wiring dimples)
Having never bought bars before - should I be buying the dimples or non-dimples bars?
Thanks folks...
G

| Hi Graeme,as Sim stated I put VL800 bars on mine, much better. What I did do,which is a good tip is,cut one and a half inches off each end with a pipe cutter(much neater) cost about a fiver and knackered when used, but I would definately recomend one. Also the cables were rerouted to the back of the tree in order to gain the extra length. The holes for you locking dimples will have to be redrilled to suit as well. These jobs are easy to do just take your time,if you do not want to remore your tank make sure you cover it up.Good Luck m8 you will not regret it,and if you get bored just change back and have a new ride again. | |

| Just found some Vl800 volusia handlebars on ebay £20. Only problem is they are collect only from Northern Ireland. Don't know if there are any active members from there who could help you out. Item number 111152353387 | |

| " /> Hi Graeme if you do the mod you will also have to reroute your clutch cable,it is no problem as you can see,you could always get bigger cables but there is no to.We are always here to help if you get stuck. It is always better to disconnect clutch cable from the lever end. | |

| Graeme Im from Edinburgh and my brother owns Scotland Ink in Ayr. If you are still looking for bars then you can look no further I have a set in my garage that I had on my 2005 vz and they looked great but was to upright for me. they are a steeper rake and wider than normal but look amazing on the bike. let me know if you want them. | Cheers Jim - that is definitely the type of bars I am after (my only reservation is the width)....how wide?
I know your brother's shop - the one with the flaming bike tank in the window. At some point (when I have more cash) I was going to go in there to get a quote for a paint job on my ride.
Cheers - and will be with you on 13/10.

| Graeme thanks bud and yes the bars are wider but a very comfy ride, you can come over after the event on the 13 if you would like.
All I ask is you give me a donation to poppyscotland for the bars.
Pass the word about the 13th and thanks again. | |
