DIY TRE made and fitted and HID kit fitted

Just made the diy TRE and can report that its made a noticeable difference to the performance in lower gears, not tried the top end yet so will report on that as soon as I can afford to hire Oulton Park for the day as I do not speed on the public highway Mr Policeman!
Also fitted an LED sidelight bulb and a HID kit, this looks the puppies pebbles and is super bright.
Earlier I poked a 20mm stick down the exhaust and popped the 2 baffle plates and this again transformed the bike.
A couple of minor mods that have made a huge difference to an already stunning bike. Next is a K&N air filter and possibly some high performance brake pads so I will have brakes!

Love it, just love to see a guy make the bike his own. Its not a Suzuki anymore its a Mickuki   

The wife calls me a serial messer! better that than melting your brain on soaps and come dine with me as she does. I like my bikes to be quite standard but with subtle improvements and definitely no purple or red bolts!

No probs, it's covered on the forum but you get a 20mm steel bar and knock it down the exhausts to pierce 2 baffle plates, result is deeper sound and better economy with a bit more performance, YouTube honest abes exhaust mod and you should find it, otherwise look on exhaust mods section and it's there. Did you join `your - made` TRE into the wiring harness or did you make a plug and play item with the correct harness plugs,, if so ware did you get the harness plugs from mate,,, I`ve made a TRE from bits in my tool kit but I want the plugs, I know I can get the plugs from the interweb but wondered where , if you did, get yours from.

I got them from www.cycleterminal.com about 13 dollars delivered. I didn't want to butcher the wiring . There is a topic in the fuel section of this forum I got the info from and the plug type is detailed there.

I love Crashes remark that it's now a Mickuki.  That means I have a Davuki & Sim has a Simuki.   
I like the idea of a HID kit, really makes a difference I am sure, especial if you use country roads at times.

It's certainly bright, mines the white 4300k, I think it lifts the look of the bike in a big way, just doing that photo bucket malarkey then I can post some pics. Simuki sounds like my neighbours Chinese put put he goes to work on!

Well, today Oulton Park was hired Mr Policeman and a top end test done and all is good, breezed to over the ton with ease and my baby now pulls like a randy teenager in top gear, feels like there is a lot more grunt and the engine has lost that stifled feel in first, second and top. Best £15 I ever spent! I would recommend the TRE mod to all 800 FI owners as it is so much for so little. Adjusted the suspension to one below the hardest setting and this again has transformed the bike, handling is cock on and the pegs don't deck out now. One very happy chappy  

Yes I agree Mick, a TRE gets rid of unnecessary restrictions.  

 

Good to see more people doing the TRE mod, it's not hard and a great bang for the buck performance mod.

I just did the honest Abe exhaust mod on a friends bike yesterday, and he loves the new sound.
Did you just pierce the baffle plates or do the complete mod, and drill the end plate too ?

Hi, just the baffle plates, I may remove the rear baffle completely in the future but think the drilled look is not the best so left that alone.

What does this TRE do exactly as I've read here it helps economy etc & can be made at home as a diy item for $13- but what am I looking for in the parts department of my local Maplins/Vehicle Wiring Supplies store.
Sorry as I said if I'm being a bit thick but I'm not having a good day today as Mr Intruder will understand what I'm saying.

The timing is retarded on our bikes, which means the bike is not running as good as it could. The timing retard eliminator reverses this and allow the bike to run properly with the rev range that is affected by the timing retarder fitted within the stock set up. The retardation removal may not be as good for the planet as it is from stock but it is better for your bike & the available power in the low rev range. I am not sure about the DIY jobbies but the one I bought also takes away the rev limiter, meaning I have control over the bike when needed rather than being told what control I can have.

Mine is the diy jobby which I made from plans in the fuel section of this forum, I have better power in the lower gears and more top end so this must remove the rev limiter, fuel consumption seems unaffected so in my opinion it's well worth doing.

Thanks Dave & Mick thats made it clearer. When my heads together again soon I'll have a look in the fueling section. Seeing as it improves low to mid end I may well fit one as I'm not a 'fast rider' more a making progress one.

Interesting read Mick, & nice to hear you are tweaking your bike to suit your needs     

Advancing the ignition works well on some other bikes & and there are different ways of doing this. The effect is usually more noticeable at the bottom-end, with better throttle response at lower speeds.

Obviously the FI equipped bikes are set up with environmental considerations in mind - nice to hear you can 'correct' this
