Just something I spotted on another site, anyone tried it? looks good! could there be any damage? I wonder if it work on spokes an stuff? if there was no damage?

Copied & Pasted..

So been spreading this tip around as it's so great! The headers on my Bandit were pretty bad, covered in spots of tar and very discoloured! Got some harpic blue toilet cleaner, wiped it on, left it 5 mins and wiped off and they came up like new! Saves hours of autosol and polishing! Can't take responsibility of this tip as it came off a forum but a good one none the less!

Yam it's an acid cleaner so that's why it comes up looking reasonably good after a soak in it.
My dad used to get acid degreaser for me when he was working that they put on loo floors etc to get stubborn stains off & it worked a treat on my old bikes as long as you ensured that you washed it off very well!

Yes, I suspected it might be an aggressive form of cleaner, & not surprised in needs 'washing off' afterwards.

One thing I've used on tar spots, or 'boot marks' for a few years on chrome exhausts is normal car wax.
If applied whilst the exhaust is hot it will remove the marks - a bit of elbow grease is required - but it does work. If the wax dries out, you have to apply a bit more, until the stain has gone - but it is non-aggressive and polishes at the same time ! ...... BUT you need to be aware of the obvious H&S issue - it is a hot exhaust , & you could get burned ! I fold a soft cotton rag over several times - but you will feel the heat coming through the rag ..... I suppose you could wear an old pair of leather gloves to save your pinkies.

I wonder if it could be too corrosive if there was overspill onto any alloy parts? But I'm not a scientist so I've no idea really!

A handy thing to use but with a lot of caution needed.
