I have a vx800 and to cut a long story short I bought a load of spares for my own bike which came with a couple of engines one was seized one is not so I have been working on the "good" engine and put it all back together last night after weeks of tinkering but I have found a small black plastic part on the bench when I was done for the love of me I can't figure out where it goes. It looks similar to the cam chain guides but is about 3-4" long I have studied the exploded diagrams but I can't see it anywhere  if anyone could she'd some light for me it would be greatly appreciated

Hi Graham. I had a VX800 and I do not recognise the part, can you post some better photo's please, with something for size reference such as a ruler by the side of it, does it have any wear marks?, does the bit on the back look like it pushed into something?, what is it made off?, is it extremely hard or fairly soft??

Here are some more photos it's quite malable it feels like there is a metal part inside as when it is bent it retains the shape

not sure graham I've not owned a vx its a small part about 10mm wide looking at pics and the bit that pokes out is about 12mm 80 in length plastic in the engine of that type would leed to a gess at cam chain tensioner although I'm not sure, but I think there should be two of them you only have one plus I think the cam chain tensioner would be longer than 8cm hhrmmmmmm good luck hopefully more will coment Help Identifing a possible engine part 3498837457

I have both cam chain guides in for both cylinders and they are a lot longer as you say it does look like a guide of some sort but I can't see where it would attach into
It could be a random part that was in the garage but it does smell like the inside of an engine if that makes sense
