| As we all know the upright riding position of the Intruder puts your body under a fair bit of strain when riding at speed for prolonged periods due to the battering you take from the wind. My bike having ape hanger bars just makes that worse and with the Suzuki800.com Normandy Tribute Tour just around the corner I thought I would see if I could make a handlebar mounted deflector/screen. I had three attempts at this and I have put up pictures my first first and last attempts. .This one did not work, it took the pressure of the chest at speed but caused me so much head buffeting that I had double vision. In the bin with this one. .This one did work did work, in fact it was better than I could have dreamed of. Even at 90 mph I had no head buffeting at all and zero pressure to my chest. Seems strange that such a small deflector could make such a difference but it is flippin amazing, I am weel pleased with it. I used 10mm plastic and as it fits in front of the bars it will be very secure, with just zip ties needed to stop any side ways movement. | |

| Cheers Sim, the good thing is that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb and takes no more than a minute to pop on if and when I am doing a high speed long distance ride. The rest of the time it will just stay in the saddle bags. | |

| Thats clever dave you wouldn't think that a small strip of plastic placed there would make such a difference with what is in front of it all ready. Bet your glad it was the third attempt that worked and not the first one Good one mate, well worked out | |

| Cheers Alfie, went out for an hour this morning and it is so good I may consider leaving it on all the time rather than just popping it on for longer trips. | |

| Truth is sometimes small screens work better than big ones. Rather glad the first one did not work as it does not look too good! The final successful one looks good and the fact it works well too means it is a winner. | |

| Thanks for the good comments John. To be honest though John the first one would not have stayed on the bike like that, it was a first prototype to see if it was even a feasible in practice to deflect from the bars as they are so close to you. The last two pictures which were try number three will stay for the trip to Normandy next week but is still a prototype. I will when time permitting, round off all the edges and then run over them with the blow torch quickly to return them to a glass/clear state. After that I will be looking to fit some spring clips for a fast attach / detach similar to these: | |

| Cheers mate, yes from a very vague idea that I was not even certain would even work it has moved on a bit, will be nice when I get the edges sorted and new fixings added as mentioned above. | |

| I wish I'd had one of those today! I think some sort of wind deflection is a must for longer rides, It will certainly make a difference on the France trip | |

| Very nice indeed Dave And unlike a higher screen like my cruiser screen, you won't collect as many French flies! | |
